The Chamber of Deputies is involved in various partnerships to actively support scientific research. “If we share our visions, our strategies and our knowledge, interdisciplinary research feeds and advances legislative work,” said Fernand Etgen during the discussions on Friday at the Maison des Sciences Humaines of the University of Luxembourg.

The third edition of the “pairing scheme” created the framework for these discussions with, among others, the rector of uni.lu, (Professor Jens Kreisel) CEO of the FNR (Marc Schiltz), Ulf Nehrbass, CEO of the LIH, Eric Dubois, Strategy Manager of the LIST and Eugenio Peluso, department director of LISER.

One of the topics was the future perspectives of the cooperation between the Chamber of Deputies and its partners from the scientific world. The highlight of this edition of the pairing scheme is a conference on 4 and 5 May 2023, open to the general public. The conference is entitled “Megatrends 2050”, and looks to the future.

The Luxembourg Parliament has its own scientific unit (“cellule scientifique”) that oversees the “pairing scheme”. The scope of this entity, which was created in September 2021, is to act at the interface of the political and scientific worlds. The aim is to provide members of parliament with all the information they need to assess complex issues and thus create concepts and options for modern parliamentary work.
