Two young economists attend 2017 Lindau Meeting on Economic Sciences

Two promising young economists from Luxembourg last week attended the 2017 Lindau Meeting on Economic Sciences, along with 17 Nobel Laureates and 350 other selected promising economists from 66 countries. Their attendance was sponsored by the FNR.

Every three years, The Council for the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings and the Foundation Lindau Nobel Prize winners organise the Lindau Meeting of the Laureates of the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel, where Laureates congregate with selected young talented economists from all over the globe.

The two FNR-sponsored participants were Cindy Lopes-Bento, who currently holds a position as tenure track Assistant Professor at the School of Business and Economics at Maastricht University, and Eric-Finn-Schaanning, currently Senior Advisor at Norges Bank. Both Cindy and Eric have previously been funded funded by FNR AFR grants.

Cindy Lopes-Bento, who attended the meeting with her young son, delivered a presentation at the meeting titled ‘The Lives of Others: On Knowledge Spillovers From Subsidised R&D and the Productivity of Non-Subsidised Firms’, in a session attended by several of the laureates.

2018 Lindau Meeting

Next year’s Lindau Meeting will be dedicated to the field of Physiology/Medicine. The call for participation will be launched in September and will be announced on the FNR website.
