Submitted Abstract

GreeNanONano2 stands in the context of a successful collaboration between the nanomaterials research unit of LIST and GICL. Indeed, this project proposal is a follow-up activity of the former CORE project GreeNanONano. While the proof of concept of grafted carbon nanotubes (CNTs) on mesoporous bio-originated silica particules has been successfully demonstrated, the translation of such novel fillers architecture to commercially available synthetic silica nanoparticules, which are currently used in the production process of Goodyear tires, still needs to be demonstrated. The disruptive mechanical and electrical properties of modelled rubbers, which have been tested with bi-phased CNTs-Mesoporous silica fillers during the GreeNanONano project, have to be further demonstrated and certainly optimized for use in tires. This requires the development of an up-scaled production of bi-phased CNTs-Silica nanoparticule fillers. The underlying ideas of the GreeNanONano2 project are thus to move from a validated proof of concept demonstrated in GreeNanONano (TRL3) to a prototype scale (TRL5).
