Submitted Abstract

We are honored to solicit the National Research Fund for financial support for the publication of the manuscript “The epidemiology of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and Alzheimer’s disease (AD) in community-living seniors: protocol of the cohort MemoVie Study, Luxembourg”, in the journal BMC Public Health. This paper describes the protocol and methodology of the MémoVie study, which was funded by the FNR (Ref.: PROJECT NUMBER: FNR/03/04/02) as part of the BIOSAN-PROVIE program on the axis developed on “Medical Aspects of Ageing (PROVIE)”.Publishing a protocol in the journal BMC Public Health makes it freely and universally accessible. Indexed in the PubMed database, the article will also be archived in PubMed Central, which further increases its visibility. The MemoVie study protocol includes a prevalence study within a case-control cohort design. The multidisciplinary nature of the study sets out to investigate different focus potentially linked with cognitive aging. Thereby, further results related to each component of the study will refer to this specific article. Indeed, due to space constraints of journals, often drastic, most original articles contain only a shortened or partial version of the methods. The MemoVie study is about to providing interesting results and before publishing them, it seems crucial to us to detail the protocol as a whole.
