Submitted Abstract

The goal of this project is to develop a simple and autonomous solution for biogas plant owners to optimize their green energy production capacity thereby maximizing their returns. The project involves utilization of the state-of-the-art in terms of observer-based control systems and applications. In addition to maximize the plant owners revenues, the project specifically emphasizes on safety, robustness and maintainability, cost effectivness while never compromising on quality of the outcome. This project is designed especially to leverage the extensive background and expertise of the PI in the field of design of software sensors, control strategies and diagnosis. In addition to the development of cyber-physical systems, the PI has also a relevant background experience in biotechnological and energy systems which is crucial for the success of the proposed Pathfinder project. In sum, the Pathfinder project would result in development of products which are innovative custom solutions for the biogas plant owners offering them software sensors for diagnosis, cost optimization and performance analysis of their plants. The technological platform could in future be also applied to other green energy production technologies.
