Submitted Abstract
SKIMAS is a partnership between LIST and Pierre Fabre Dermo-cosmétique (PFDC) to develop Mass Spectrometry (MS) imaging to investigate the effect of skin photodamage and skin inflammation at the molecular scale. The studies will be conducted on skin models submitted to several stress in order 1) to mimic photo-exposed skin with or without topical application of sunscreen and 2) to simulate inflammatory skin disorders (psoriasis, acne, pigmentation disorders) with or without anti-inflammatory treatment. PFDC will provide skin models for MS imaging and information on different relevant biomarkers to be studied based on previous and on-going in-house R&D studies on photoprotection, in particular lipidomic and metabolomic studies. These studies will also allow to better understand the effects of ingredients, mechanistic formulas and to improve the predictivity of the results and the behaviour of these formulas in skin after topical application, namely using the outcome of the developed MS imaging methodologies.
