Submitted Abstract

Key issues of public health and drug discovery are related with high throughput diagnosis, which is based on the preparation of target molecules and the later detection of chemical reactions. The current bottleneck is the capacity to spot or synthesize arrays of complex molecular entities. The main goal of the project is to develop the means to perform solid-state synthesis or spotting of complex molecules with the maximum density and resolution. The route to this objective is the use of nanotechnology to control pH-regulated electrochemical processes. Nanotechnology is also the route to allow the implementation of sensing techniques, the enhancement of reagent distribution by micro fluidics and the improvement and implementation of bio-materials all in a lab-on-a-chip concept.
