Submitted Abstract
This was the 2nd edition of our high profile Lecture Series in Cancer Research generously supported by the FNR, and as such we have established a regular high quality scientific event assembling cancer researchers in Luxembourg from different institutions. This year’s speakers were proposed by professors and senior researchers from the Luxembourg Institute of Health and the Life Science Research Unit of the University of Luxembourg, bringing together different aspects of cancer research. The topics covered included molecular classification of breast cancer, cancer-immune system interactions, tumour angiogenesis and application of computational modeling in the pharmaceutical industry. The lecture series addresses the scientific community of cancer researchers in Luxembourg encompassing more than 100 people within the two institutions and is of course also open to researchers from other places. In addition to the lectures, a workshop for young researchers was organized with the speaker enabling scientific exchange in an informal setting, followed by a dinner with the PIs. By bringing together researchers of all levels, faculty, PhD students and other interested local stakeholders from public or private institutions and disciplines, the Cancer research lecture series was a success and strongly fostered community building within cancer research in Luxembourg.
