Submitted Abstract
The ‘Kitchen Lab’We are all scientists! Or isn’t it so that everybody experiments in his kitchen on daily basis? In the spirit of how deeply science is anchored into all culinary reactions, we will establish a thematic room – the ‘Kitchen Lab’ – at the Luxembourg Science Center. Our concept is inspired by a scientist’s definition of cooking, as being ‘the transformation of ingredients by physical, chemical and biological approaches’. At the ‘Kitchen Lab’, we will invite visitors to participate in hands-on workshops, demonstrations and tastings that will allow exploring the science of cooking. While our visitors discover the science, the research and the technology that altogether hide behind our stoves we aim to eventually spark interest and curiosity in science. The ‘Kitchen Lab’ will be integrated into the premises of the Luxembourg Science Center. Our mission is to promote interest in science and technology within the general public, and youngsters in particular. To eventually create excitement for STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), we offer our visitors spectacular, interactive, recreational, and educational workstations, workshops and labs.
