Submitted Abstract

During tire manufacturing, extrusion processes play an essential role. In computational simulations of extrusion processes, the consideration of slippage mechanisms at the interface between processed material and processing equipment is a challenging task. The PPP project SLIPEX aims at one hand to incorporate the complex influence of slip phenomena into Goodyear’s computational simulations of extrusion processes. On the other hand, SLIPEX will further the understanding of the slippage phenomenon and promote the art of flow simulation. This shall be achieved by combining the extensive knowledge and experience of groups from experimental physics, computational engineering and tire engineering.
