Submitted Abstract
In order to position Luxembourg as an international research hub, LCSB organizes a Bi-Annual International Systems Biomedicine Symposium. The first symposium took place in the context of the LCSB-inauguration in September 2011. The “2nd International Systems Biomedicine Symposium” is now planned from the 21s to the 22nd of October 2013. The goal is to present and discuss the frontier and state of the art in systems biology, current developments and trends in disease oriented systems medicine and new exciting areas that might be tackled in future research programmes. An additional goal is to explore potential new international partnerships and collaborations with leading scientists and organisations. For this purpose leading scientists, representing key new developments in the systems biomedicine will participate as speakers and chairs. Prof. Bruce Beutler, recipient of the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 2011 has accepted to give the opening key note lecture on the 21st of October. The main topics addressed at the symposium will be new technologies, bioinformatics and computational approaches, models systems and clinical aspects of systems biomedicine. This symposium will be a unique opportunity for young Luxembourgian and European researchers to personally meet internationally leading scientists in the field of systems biomedicine.
