Science.lu, the FNR-run science website for all, has launched the video ‘Look closer: What does it mean to be a researcher?’ to promote research in Luxembourg and highlight that researchers are often very different from what people might expect! The video was entirely created in Luxembourg featuring local researchers and science communicators.
How much do you know about research and science in Luxembourg? This video shows the great diversity of the research sector and features research done in Luxembourg, starring scientists and science communicators from Luxembourg.
There are a lot of stereotypes about research and scientists (the most common → the typical mad scientist with the lab coat or biologist using a microscope). The goal of the video is to give the public a more accurate image of science and scientists by killing off stereotypes.
Find out more about science and research in Luxembourg in Luxembourgish, French, German (also selected articles in English) on www.science.lu
The video was created ahead of the 2021 edition of the FNR’s initiative Chercheurs à l’école, where researchers visit secondary school across Luxembourg to tell students about life as a researcher. Researchers were able to use the video in their presentations to the students to clear up stereotypes and give them a glimpse of the diverse areas where researchers play an important role.
