PROGRAMME SUMMARY

The Active and Assistive Living (AAL) programme funds projects in industry partnerships in the field of information and communication technology (ICT) for active and healthy ageing.

The overall objective of AAL is to enhance the quality of life of older adults while strengthening the industrial base in Europe through the use of ICT. Since 2008, the AAL Programme has funded over 260 thematic projects in 13 annual calls.

While keeping an open call approach (i.e open to all 8 AAL application areas), the Call 2021 will stress three elements, namely an inclusive health & care approach (health prevention, preservation of physical & mental health, social participation), the stimulation and upscaling of innovation in active & healthy ageing through health & care eco-systems and the accessibility of digital solutions to end users, e.g through education for greater e-literacy.

Both Collaborative Projects and Small Collaborative Projects will be supported by 2021 Call.

2021 Call topic: “Advancing inclusive health & care solutions for ageing well in the new decade”

Collaborative project proposals must demonstrate a clear route to market and added-value for the different types of end-users. The wishes and aspirations of older adults in combination with the demands from the other stakeholders involved – e.g. providers and payers – will have a critical role in shaping useful and attractive AAL solutions with a high market potential. Both “Collaborative projects” (carried out by consortia composed of at least 3 organisations from 3 different countries including an end user organisation and a business partner) and “Small Collaborative Projects” (with a shorter duration and smaller budget) will still be funded through this Call.
