27 May: International Clinical Trials’ Day

The Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) and its Clinical and Epidemiological Investigation Center (CIEC) invites you to celebrate International Clinical Trials’ Day with a film projection of ‘Awakenings’.

Time and location: Friday, 27 May 2016 – from 6:00 P.M onward at Utopolis Cinema Belval

Synopsis: Dr. Malcolm Sayer (Robin Williams), a shy research physician, uses an experimental drug to “awaken” the catatonic victims of a rare disease. Robert De Niro co-stars as Leonard, the first patient to receive the controversial treatment. The movie tells the true story of British neurologist Oliver Sacks, who, discovered in 1969 beneficial effects of the drug L-Dopa, the goldstandard treatment for Parkinson’s disease.
