FNRS: Gagna A. & Ch. Van Heck 2018 Prize

The Fonds de la Recherche Scientifique – FNRS (F.R.S.-FNRS) will grant, in 2018, the triennial and international Gagna A. & Ch. Van Heck, amounting to 75.000 EUR, to a scientist or a medical doctor, in recognition of a research work which has contributed to the treatment of a disease currently incurable, or which has raised hopes for curing the disease. Application deadline is Monday, 15 January 2018.

Criteria

The Prize is intended to reward a work submitted by one researcher or a team represented by a maximum of two researchers.

Candidates to the Prize should not have received an equivalent or superior Prize intended to promote the submitted work in the course of the last 10 years (i.e. from January 15, 2008 to January 15, 2018).

Candidates must be proposed by a person duly qualified to appreciate the candidates work. This person must provide signed justification of his/her support in the form of a memorandum giving full details of the candidates merits. This memorandum (between five and ten pages), written in English, will make sure that, in particular, the work of the candidates conforms to the guidelines for the awarding of the Prize.

Besides, the following documents are requested:

– the curriculum vitae of the candidates, including a list of received Prizes, with their amounts,

– the complete list of publications of the candidates.

Any question concerning the applications and the awarding of the Prize will be settled in a final and binding manner by the F.R.S.-FNRS.

The Prize will be awarded to the laureate by the “Fonds de la Recherche Scientifique – FNRS”, upon proposal of a Jury appointed by the F.R.S.-FNRS.

The F.R.S.-FNRS can decide not to grant the Prize. In that case, the amount of the award will be added to the capital.

Application files, reports and proposals linked to the award of the Gagna A. & Ch. Van Heck will be treated confidentially.

Application files must be submitted electronically to prix@frs-fnrs.be no later than January 15, 2018.
