Timed with the recently-launched ATTRACT Call, the FNR has conducted an interview with the only two female ATTRACT Fellows, where they talk about what challenges they face and what the FNR can do to make the programme more attractive to female scientists.
Starting with the 2016/17 Call, the FNR introduced a quota for the ATTRACT Calls running from 2017-21. During this period, the FNR expects 40% of the applications to be female candidates. Applications are submitted jointly by the ATTRACT candidate and the Luxembourg research institutions.
Between 2007 – 2017, only 13 of a total of 67 applications for ATTRACT were from female candidates. Ines Thiele and Anne Grünewald are the only two women who have so far been awarded an ATTRACT Fellowship.
