The University of Luxembourg’s Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) celebrates its 10th anniversary with the exhibition ‘Mind the Brain’, taking place in Luxembourg City from Sunday, 15 September to Sunday, 6 October 2019.
Mind the Brain is an exhibition created on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) of the University of Luxembourg, which represents an important milestone for biomedical research in Luxembourg.
Combining art with science, Mind the Brain will exhibit 10 giant sculptures in the shape of a brain throughout the city center of Luxembourg. Each of the giant brains will be decorated by a renowned Luxembourgish artist and will represent one of the research areas of the LCSB. Thereby, the exhibition aims at making science more accessible to the general public and to inform about the research and discoveries of the LCSB.
Finally, to support both Luxembourgish art and biomedical research, the 10 brains will be on sale. Half of the revenues will go to the artists and the other half will support a research project in the field of neurodegenerative diseases.

About the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB)
The LCSB is an interdisciplinary research centre at the University of Luxembourg. It is accelerating biomedical research by closing the link between systems biology and medical research. Collaboration between biologists, medical and computer scientists, physicists, engineers as well as mathematicians is offering new insights in complex systems like cells, organs and organisms. These findings are essential for understanding principal mechanisms of disease pathogenesis and for developing new tools in diagnostics and therapy. Neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson’s Disease and description of diseases as networks are in the focus of LCSB’s research.
